Caught in a rip about 100 metres offshore of Sydney beach Maroubra on Sunday, 25 swimmers were rescued with the help of Ironman and Ironwoman athletes who happened to be competing earlier that day. A group of 10 participants, coaches and competitors used boards and rescue tubes to stabilise the swimmers before inflatable rescue boats arrived and escorted them to shore.
